With the success of Childless Good Fortune buoying JTBC’s roster, they’re not wasting any time lining up their next weekend drama: They’ve announced Dark History: War of the Flowers, which has cast Kim Hyun-joo in the lead role playing a Joseon-era femme fatale. The drama is a sageuk and comes from the team who gave JTBC one of its earliest hits, Queen Dowager In-soo, so you can bet expectations are heightened for War of the Flowers.

Kim Hyun-joo has played a lot of types of characters in her career (recent dramas includeDumb Mom, Twinkle Twinkle), but I still associate her with a gentle sort of acting style, so this may be a big change for her. She plays a concubine of King Injo, Lady Jo, who was born into the lowest class but won Injo’s favor using her beauty and her wiles, and turned into a seductress who kept the king under her thumb. She played a key role in fracturing the relationship between Injo and his son, Crown Prince Sohyeon.

Usually these dramas take forever to release all their casting news, dropping one tidbit at a time, but this one seems to be going for the all-in-one-shot approach: Chae Jung-ahn(Queen of Reversals, Coffee Prince) has also signed on as Lady Kang, the crown princess and wife of Sohyeon. Ah, so their antagonism will probably fuel much of the drama.

The crown princess has an honorable reputation and is known for her intelligence, and together with her husband she advocated for reforms in Joseon. You can see how that might not jibe so well with the power-hungry and scheming seductress trying to keep the king under her control. That makes Kim Hyun-joo's character Chae Jung-ahn's mother-in-law, though the two actresses are of an age (both 36), which should make the showdown interesting.
Complicating matters, Jeon Tae-soo (It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl) is onboard playing Lady Jo’s lover. So she’s got a king wrapped around her finger, a son-in-law to alienate, a daughter-in-law to battle wills against, and a little sump’n-sump’n on the side too? This lady has balls.
Cast as King Injo is Lee Deok-hwa (May Queen, History of the Salaryman), while Jung Sung-woon (Dong Yi) will play Sohyeon. Jung Sung-mo (God of War) will play Kim Ja-jeom, a well-known politician and Confucian scholar.
War of the Flowers will replace Childless Good Fortune and takes to airwaves in March.

Kim Hyeon-joo debuts to Hollywood

Actress Kim Hyeon-joo is about to debut into Hollywood. She received a call from a US productions while she was taking a break from "Dummy Mommy" and had a movie meeting.
This movie is being prepared by a Korean-American and it is a biography of Mafia Jason Lee. Kim Hyeon-joo was offered the role of Master Ahn Chang-ho's daughter.
Chicago mafia and legendary gambler Jason Lee is one of the top three bosses of the Mafia Committee and one of the characters who donated a huge amount of support to independence activist Ahn Chang-ho.

The productions cast Kim Hyeon-joo as they were appealed by her oriental beauty.
Kim Hyeon-joo's agency claims, "She thought hard about the movie scenario and was satisfied. Stepping into Hollywood could be a good chance to show the US the true Korea".
The agency said, "Schedules will be set within the next 2~3 months. The making will start in May next year. The rest of the cast is made up of people who are very famous all over the world".
Kim Hyeon-joo debuted in 1996 and starred in "Her House", "Sangdo", "Glass Slipper", "Toji, the Land", "Twinkle Twinkle" and more. She is currently studying English for her debut to the US.

At last! We finally can have a glance of the script reading scenes. On the practice field is PD Park Gye Ok with the cast, Kim Hyun Joo, Ha Hee Ra, Kim Jung Hoon, Kim Tae Woo, Shin Hyun Joon, Kim Chung, Kim Ha Gyoon, Seo Dong Won and child actress Ahn Seo Hyun.

PD Lee Dong Hoon greets everyone and started the script reading saying, "Let's trust each other and have a fun shooting". Wearing black rimmed glasses, Kim Hyun Joo, sincerely reads the script for her role, Young Joo. And... does her outfit look familiar to you? I think the script reading took place on the same day she visited Good Neighbors. Not sure though..

Ha Hee-Ra Cast for SBS' Drama "Stupid Mother"

Ha Hee Ra (43) is expected to play the role of Kim Sun Young, the good and dedicated older sister of Young Hee (Kim Hyun Joo) in SBS' upcoming drama 'Stupid Mother' (tentative title).

SBS officials said, "Ha Hee Ra is expected to appear and coordinate on the current formal written agreement."

I don't know much about Ha Hee Ra. I only watched one of her dramas, 'What's for Dinner.' But in my opinion, this role suits her and for sure she will portray it well.

Actor Kim Jeong-hoon has been cast for the new SBS weekend drama "Dummy Mommy".

On February 3rd his management company stated that Kim Jeong-hoon is taking on the role of Lee Je-ha, who is the school friend of leading lady Yeong-joo (Kim Hyeon-joo) and a doctor who also loves her.

The management stated, "The official contract hasn't been signed yet but we are talking about it very optimistically. We are in the last moments of negotiation".

Kim Jeong-hoon has given good performances in the MBC dramas "Princess Hours" and "A Witch in Love" as well as the recent TVN show "I Need Romance".

"Dummy Mommy" is a drama based on an original story that deals with three women from three generations going through love and forgiveness as well as reconciliation. Other cast members include Kim Hyeon-joo, Park Cheol-min and Kim Tae-woo.

This drama will be aired in March after the conclusion of "Live in Style".
